Mission & Outreach

Waters Edge exists not just for us to ‘Know Christ,’ but also to ‘Make Christ Known’.   To accomplish that task we must look beyond ourselves and treat our neighbors locally and beyond with grace and love.

Washington Street Park Soup Kitchen

Once a month Waters Edge prepares and provides a free meal to the neighborhood residents living around the Washington Street Park in downtown Beaufort.  We are always in need of supplies and volunteers to help cook and serve.  This a great way to get your feet wet at the Waters Edge.  Contact Kami & Bill Bodnar for more information or to volunteer.

Migrant Farm Worker Mission

Thank you to everyone that helped support the migrant farm worker mission this year.  Most of the work this season has now been completed and the migrant farm workers have moved north to find work in other parts of the country.  We plan to continue to meet with the local outreach coordinators of this program to see what Waters Edge can do to help plan for the season next year.

Family Promise

Family Promise helps homeless families get back onto their feet.  Churches across Beaufort County have partnered together to provide food and shelter for these families during the night, and Job & Life Skills training during the day.  Waters Edge has partnered with Tidal Creek Fellowship Church to serve this need.  To volunteer please contact Sandi & Herb Fast.

Back Pack Buddies

The Backpack Buddies program helps pack food for children in our community schools.  Many children would go hungry on the weekends without the food given to them in the Backpack Buddy program.  We  partner with Seaside Vineyard in this project.  We meet periodically at Seaside Vineyard to pack the bags.  For more information or to volunteer for this program contact David Mandell.

Salkehatchie Summer Service

Salkehatchie Summer Service is a servant ministry at selected sites in South Carolina involving high school and college age youth and adult community leaders.  Participants upgrade housing for those in need by motivating community cooperative efforts and by helping persons to help themselves – providing all involved with opportunities for personal growth and service.  The camps begin in May and continue throughout the summer following an eight day format. Check out our YouTube page for Salkehatchie videos from previous years.  For more information contact the church office.
